Twinkling Watermelon

As much as I love reading blogs from people living in many different countries, sometimes there are moments when they can slightly contribute to my fundamental frustration. There are so many great products out on the market which are likewise hard to get hold of when you live in Germany. Of course, you can get most of them online by now, but they tend to be sold at much higher prices. Also, shipping costs apply on top of that and it can sometimes take quite some time until the package finally arrives at your house (I can get reeeally impatient in that regard).

Having said that, you can probably imagine how excited I get when I travel to a foreign country and get the ability to see some of these products in real stores, not only on a mingy, flickering screen.
Luckily, I was able to experience such a moment during my last stay in Edinburgh. Considering that Edinburgh is honestly such a beautiful city, it feels even more pathetic that a Boots-store seemed to excite me more than all of the "usual" tourist sights, now that I come to think of it.

Aaanyway, after running around like a child in a candy store for what felt like hours, one type of product that found its way into my basket were some of the Barry M Gelly Nail Paints which are pretty hyped up by the internet community.
The colour used in this design is called "Watermelon" which seems to be quite an appropriate name when looking at the skin of this yummy fruit. This is actually a rather unusual colour for me as I tend to avoid wearing darker, cold-toned colours which can make my pale hands sometimes look a little corpse-like. Nonetheless, I'm even beginning to like this dark turquoise-toned green hue
The polish was opaque with only one coat and has this particular shiny, gel-like finish that is so great about the Barry M Gellies.

I've always had a liking for the so-called "accent nail" because I think it can give a nail look just that little something. This time I simply used Ciaté's "yule rules" as a glitter top coat on the ring finger as a contrast to the others. By the way, this polish was included in last year's Ciaté Mini Mani Manor advent calendar (which actually deserves its very own blogpost for how amazing it was).

Although it's definitely not Christmas anymore, I think the colours look quite good together and not too inappropriately festive.

Are you a fan of the Barry M Gelly Nail Paints as well? What are some other brands you swear by when it comes to good nail polishes? I'm always curious to hear other peoples' opinions! ☺

  1. LOVE that teal colour. The Gelly shine polishes are great and so cheap especially for a colour that you might not wear every day.
